Established in 1981, the Department of Psychology at Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, has evolved into one of Gujarat’s distinguished centres for higher education, research, and professional training in Psychological Science. Guided by the University’s enduring ideals of knowledge, character, and service, it continues to nurture competent psychologists, researchers, educators, counsellors, and socially responsible professionals equipped to address the psychological challenges of an ever-changing world.
The Department commenced its academic journey with a modest intake of seven postgraduate students under the guidance of Dr. J. C. Throughout its journey, the Department has remained committed to providing accessible and high-quality education, particularly to students from rural and semi-urban communities, while fostering intellectual curiosity, critical thinking, and scientific temper.
The Department’s sustained growth is the result of the visionary leadership and unwavering commitment of its distinguished Heads.
