The C C Patel Community Science Centre is an Anand district CSC sponsored by Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) , Gandhinagar and managed by Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar.
Established in 2004, the CSC Anand is actively working to effectuate its mission of “Science to People and People towards Science” through various awareness generation programmes organized for the different age-group of people,- covering the entire community.
The CSC Anand has its own 3 storied building where there is a Hall of Science with various models, different gadgets of Energy Conservation, a Green House with hydroponics system, a 10,000 litre Rainwater harvesting Well, a wind-solar dual inverter, A GUJCOST kit of Innovation Club, and many other exhibits, with an Open access to Community. The Centre runs (1) CSC Khagol mandai (2) CSC Maths Club (3) CSC Nature & Environment Club and (4) CSC Yogic Science and Integral Wellness Initiative.
The Lok Vigyan Kendra regularly organizes, since last 18 years, Summer camp for school students wherein different activities on Rocket making and launching, Learning maths with Fun, Bird watching, Block Coding, Experiments on Electronics- kit, Learning to make building measurements and model, Basics of Astronomy, Basics of mobile and satellite communication, Science of Music, Learning basic principles of Science through experimens, learning about green technologies etc.etc.
The CSC is also actively working to give scientific and technological solutions to the problems of the community of Anand district, in addition to encouraging young children to develop scientific temperament and participate in various programmes launched by GUJCOST under the DST, Gujarat and other programmes across the entire district.The Hon.Director and Hon.Jt.Director of CSC are appointed by its Advisory Committee (formed as per the structure suggested by GUJCOST) from amongst the Faculty Members of Sardar Patel University.
The present and the retired faculty, the research scholars, post-graduate and undergraduate students of University provide voluntary services for this noble work. This is the first of its kind, and the only esc being run and managed by a grant-in aide-State University in India.
In last 04 years, CSC Anand has organized about 1600 activities with the involvement of around 2.00 lac beneficiaries from different strata of community.
