It will be therefore proper to first decide on the goals and the aim of education from the perspective of Integral Education.

There are three things, which have to be taken into account in a true and living education: first, man as an individual in his commonness with others as well as his uniqueness, second, the Indian nation, and lastly universal humanity. It follows that that alone will be a true education which will help to bring out to full advantage the full potential of the individual, enable him to enter into right relation with the Indian spirit and finally to humanity.

We must first get a clear understanding of the Indian concept of man for this will determine our concepts of education. The Indian mind has never regarded man as pre-eminently a body, which has been animated with a life and equipped with a mind. Rather India has always seen man as a soul, a portion of the Divine enwrapped in mind and body. She has no doubt distinguished in him a mental, an intellectual, and an ethical, dynamic and practical, an aesthetic and hedonistic, a vital and physical being but all these things have been seen as powers of the soul. In other words, man has been seen in the Indian concept as a soul, which has a mind, life and body.

It follows that an Indian and integral system of education must give full play to all these parts of the being- the physical, the vital, the mental and the spiritual.

The aim of integral education will be to help the child to develop his physical, intellectual, aesthetic, emotional, moral, spiritual being and his communal life and impulses out of his own temperament and capacities.

Another point to note is that integral education will be based on the following:

Every one has in him something divine, something his own, a chance of perfection and strength in however small a sphere which God offers him to take or refuse. The task is to find it, develop and use it.
