The University Industry Interaction Cell organized the first Patent Awareness Workshop  for Academia and Industries on April 9, 2003 at Sardar Patel University. Around  150 delegates from different parts of Gujarat are participated in this workshop. The delegates belonged to different streams like science, engineering, humanities, laws, pharmacy, etc. from teaching faculty at various levels, Scientist from research organizations and Industrialist representatives. Four experts from TIFAC gave delebrations about various aspects of Patents and Copy Rights. These included:

• Intellectual Property Rights -an awareness about  the Patents, and filing of patents.
• Patents situation in India &  patent filing procedures
• Patenting in chemicals and related aspects.
