Department has seven faculty members including 2 Professors, 3 Readers and two lecturers.  These faculty members have requisite educational qualifications, long experience of teaching and research work and are actively engaged in research guidance and other academic pursuits.  A brief introductory note on each of the faculty member is as under

Dr. Amrapali M. Merchant (M. A. Ph.D) :Senior Professor is having more than 30 years’ of teaching experience. Having specialization in Rural Sociology and Gender Studies, she has guided 6 Ph.D. and 15 M.Phil students successfully.  She has published 18 books and 42 Articles.  She has organized and participated in several conference, Seminars and workshops and refresher courses both as participant as well as resource person.  She has completed several research projects and recently carrying out major research project on “Effectiveness of Women Surpancha of Gujarat”. She had worked as Honorary Director and visiting faculty in Sardar Patel Institute of Public Administration, Ahmedabad.  Recently she has been appointed as Vice-Chancellor of Dr. BabaSaheb Ambedkar Open University, Ahmedabad and joined there for 3 years on Lien service.

Dr. Jayprakash M. Trivedi (M. A. M.Phil. Ph.D) :Senior Professor & Head, working in the department since last 22 years, has 24 years total teaching experience. Having specialization in Migration, Urbanization and social change as well as weaker section studies, he has guided 5 Ph.D. and 14 M.Phil. students successfully.  He has published 6 books and 10 research articles.  He has organized 1 workshop and 1 Seminar and participated in total 40 seminars, workshop, and conference of state, national and international level.  He has participated as resource person in several refresher courses for college teachers.  He had worked as honorary Director of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Chair of Sardar Patel University; V.V.Nagar He had been awarded one-month visiting research fellowship by Calcutta University and teacher fellowship by Bhavnagar University.  He has been invited as subject-expert in Peer-committee for New curriculum in Sociology by U.G.C. Delhi.  He has been appointed as co-opt member of the Board of Studies in Rural Sociology at M.L.Sukhadia University Udaipur,  Board of Studies in Sociology, North Gujarat University, Patan. Board of study in social work  Bhavnagar University. He had completed 4 minor research and 1 major research projects funded by U.G.C Delhi.

 Shri Parbatbhai M. Parmar (M.A) :Senior Reader is having total 23 years of teaching experience. Having specialization in sociology of weaker Sections, currently he is holding the Position of chairperson, Dr.Baba saheb Ambedkar chair, S.P.University. v.v.nanar. He has guided 8 M.Phil students successfully and has published 1 book and 10 Articles. He has participated in more then 50 seminar, workshop and conference of state and national level. He had been invited as resource person in Refresher courses He is carrying out research project on problems of workers  in Akik industry

Dr. Hiteshkumsr N. Patel (M.A, M.PHIL.PH.D.) Reader, is having total 16 years of teaching experience. Having specialization in sociology of aging he has successfully guided  2 M.Phil student. He has published 3 book and 29 Articles. He has participated in total 15 seminar, conference   and,  workshop of regional , state and national level . He had completed 2 minor and 1 major research projects funded by U.G.C. Delhi .He has been appointed as panel-inspector for secondary   schools by G.S.S.C. board.

Dr. Javerbhai  C. Patel (M.A, Ph.D) :Reader, is having total 15 years  teaching experience. Having specialization in sociology of tribal studies, he has successfully guided 12 M.Phil students successfully. He has published 1 book and 21 articles. He has participated in total 35 seminars, workshops, conferences of state and national level. He has completed 3 minor research projects and recently carrying out major research project on tribal widows as funded by U.G.C. Delhi.

Dr. Rameshbhai H. Makwana (M.A., M.Phil.Ph.D.): Senior lecturer is having 6 years’ experience. Having specialization in Political Sociology, he has guided 9 M.Phil students successfully. He has published 11 articles and participated in total 40 seminars, conferences and workshop of state and national level. Having completed 3 minor research projects at present he is doing major research project on S.C. women Sarpanches of Gujarat state as funded by U.G.C. Delhi.

Dr. Illaben M. Macwan (M.A. M.Phil. Ph.D.) :Lecturer is having five years’ teaching experience. Having specialization in Sociology of weaker sections, she has published five articles. She has also participated in 24 seminar, workshop and conferences. She has also completed one minor research project on problem of child labour.
