E A candidates who has passed the Bachelor’s degree examination (first Degree) in any faculty of this University under 10+2+3 pattern or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with at least 50 % percent marks in Third Year examination with English as one of the subject will be considered eligible for admission to M.S.W course in this University.
E No person shall be qualified for admission, unless he or she is 20 years of age as on 1st July. The candidate must be sound in health to do 8 hours work and must be conversant with Gujarati and /or Hindi language.30 students will be admitted to this course.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
E MSW programme will be spread over four semesters the theory course are grouped in three parts viz.
1. Foundation courses
2. Social work practice
3. Field of Social Work
These courses will be taught as I and II in two successive semesters and III and IV semesters besides some courses of Social Work practice area, few specialization / elective courses will be covered.
E Each semester will comprise of minimum 15 working weeks. All courses and papers offered during a semester will have a minimum of three / four hours of class room teaching per week
E Courses taken by student to complete his /her degree programme are divided into core course and elective courses.
Core courses: course required to be taken by all students
Elective courses: The elective courses are offered in Third and Fourth semesters.
E Admission to different elective groups will be decided in consultation with the faculty members. The elective subject ones chosen will not be permitted to change .The choice of elective courses will be based on the offering, made by the department subject to availability of faculty.
E Candidates shall be required to attend at least 80 % of the total classroom sessions and fieldwork separately under each of the courses offered to them during the semesters. In case a candidate fails to meet the minimum requirement, He/ She will have to repeat the respective semester.
E No candidate will be allowed to reappear at any semester examination, which he/she has already passed.
E To provide the students an opportunity to learn and enhance skill in different opportunities will be provided during the course of two years professional training in social work.
§ Field visit once in a month (Both year)
§ Structure experience Laboratory (both the years)
§ Summer placement ( End of Second semester)
§ Rural camp 10 days
§ Study tour 10 days
§ Con current field work- this will call for working in the field for two days each week in the semester. The candidates will suppose to work for 15 hrs per week in structural social welfare agencies, hospital, village, slum and industries etc. or In each semester continuous field work may be there, making the total field work hours equal to 15 hours per week in con-current field work
E The final result for the award of the degree will be declared on the basis of the grand total of all the semesters’ examinations and performance in viva –voice prescribed for the degree examination.
E A candidate who fails in more than two courses (any two of total heads of passing in the particular semester) will not be admitted for further study at a subsequent semester and will be required to repeat the courses in which he/she has failed by joining the department as regular student in the semester in which these courses are again offered.
E A candidate failing in not more than two courses at any semester examination will be promoted to the subsequent semester and he/she will have to clear the failing heads by reappearing in the university examination. In case prerequisite courses are not cleared, the advanced respective courses will not be permitted in subsequent semester.
E The Objective of evaluation in the MSW Programme is not only to measure the performance of student but also to motivate them for better performance. Students are to be evaluated on the basis of class tests, quizzes, class participation, home assignments, seminars, fieldwork reports and mid-semester and End-semester examinations The method of evaluation as well as weight age to be assigned to different types of tests will be determined by the faculty teaching the course within the framework` of Department’s/Institute’s policy.
The Standard of passing the Master of Social Work Degree Examination
E To pass any semester for the MSW Degree a candidate must obtain 40% marks in the University Examination and 40% marks in the aggregate of University and internal examination in each course of Theory, Fieldwork and Research work.
