SOCIAL WORK

Human service profession, societal response, people’s response and individual actor’s response- all aim at bringing about social change. The Social Work Profession broadly works for equity, social justice, harmony and peace mainly directing the activities to support the quest of the marginalized groups to meet their needs. Educational programmes in society are impacted by the same social influences. The content offered must have the vital component of practice learning opportunities.

Objectives:-

1.      To impart and organize scientific training / teaching in social work to those desirous of making a career in the field of social work.

2.      To organize social research and to train students in the methods of social research to promote the growth of social work profession.

3.      To offer such training facilities as are necessary to develop the basic knowledge, skills, techniques and attitudes in students to work with individuals, groups and community.

4.      To organize conferences, symposia, seminars, lectures, workshops etc. for the benefit of those who are in the field of social work and also to involve the public on the whole in the activities undertaken to promote the welfare of different sections of the community.

5.     To undertake such other activities as may be deemed necessary to promote understanding and better professional practices in the area of social work, social services, personnel administration and allied fields
