Course Description

·         Master of Business Administration (2 years full time)

·         Ph. D (Full Time or Part time) through thesis work in ‘Management’

·         One year P G Diploma courses in Marketing and Business Administration

Master of Business Administration (MBA)

The two-year (full time) MBA programme is spread over four semesters. In all, twenty-nine subjects are covered in the programme. The curriculum and the course work at the MBA Programme have been carefully designed with the help of trained experts to provide relevant knowledge, skills and attitudinal components in each subject.

The University has undertaken a substantial review & reform in its curriculum to incorporate inputs to prepare and equip managers to face the challenges of the 21st century. In addition to basic foundation courses in the first year, courses on Managerial skills, International Environment and Research Methodology are also Compulsory for all students. During the Second year students are required to choose one elective stream (out of six streams available for specialization). Six papers from the chosen elective stream of specialization are required to be selected from a large number of options within each stream. In addition there are compulsory papers of Business Policy Strategic Management, Business legislation, Comprehensive Project course. etc.

The teaching methodology comprises of lectures, case discussions, presentations, role plays, simulations, in-basket exercises, business games, seminars, field work, computer aided instructions and industrial visits to help them cope with whatever they may encounter in the corporate world. Computer and MIS form an integral part of the MBA Programme and due emphasis is given to them. Projects and field works are viewed as important components of the basic course content.

 The Evaluation of students is based on continuous assessment through classroom tests, quizzes, class participation, home assignments, and mid and final-semester examinations. The basic objective of evaluation, at the MBA Programme, is not merely to measure the performance of the students, but also motivate them for better performance. However, at the end of each semester, the performance of students is rated on the basis of end term results only.

The students of the institute are actively involved in extra-curricular activities, with a platform for participation being provided by the students’ forum, the finance forum and the marketing forum. The students also help in planning and organizing seminars, guest lectures and other events.

 At the end of II semester exam the student have to undergo a six week summer training in some in some industrial organization of repute.

SECOND YEAR

During Second Year, in addition to compulsory papers and comprehensive project studies, a student shall have to choose three optional papers in third semester and three optional papers in fourth semester from the list of optional papers announced at the beginning of each semester.
