GHPIBM ALUMNI ASSOCIATION – CONSTITUTION

1.      Name: The name of the association shall be Alumni Association.

2. Aims & Objectives:

                                 i.            To assist its members to keep in touch with GHPIBM and with each other.

                               ii.            To promote the interests of GHPIBM.

                              iii.            To raise and hold funds in addition to subscription income for fulfillment of the objectives of the Association.

                             iv.            To organize events in order to increase interaction among the members.

3. Membership:

                                 i.            All the GHPIBM its Postgraduates/ Doctoral degree holders holding degree of GHPIBM at Sardar Patel University shall automatically members of the Association.

                               ii.            Other persons associated with GHPIBM shall be eligible for membership of the associated on the basis of individual application, and assessment by the Management Committee.

4. Management Committee:

The Management Committee shall have three members – a chairperson Secretary and a Treasurer. The Head of the department will be the chairperson by virtue of his/her position. The secretary and treasurer will be selected unanimously from among the faculty of GHPIBM by the committee. The management committee shall prepare and publish annually a report of post activities and a time table of    forthcoming events and activities. The Function of the committee shall be:-

·        Networking

·        Publications

·        Fund Raising

·        Relations with students

·        Preparation of  General and other Meeting

·        Organizing Alumni Meet

5. Meetings:

The general meeting of the association shall take place at least once in a year on first Sunday of February. Amendments or additions to, or deletions from this constitution shall be approved by the management committee. Every officer, appointee, representative or member of staff of the Association shall be entitled to be indemnified out of the assets of the Association against all losses or liability which he/she may sustain or incur in or about executive of his/her office, or otherwise in relation thereto; provided that nothing in this clause shall effect their liability for the consequence of any negligent or dishonest act on their part.

The decision of the Chairperson on all matters pertaining to the conduct of meetings shall be final.

A  REPORT – 2007

G. H. Patel P.G. Institute of Business Management, MBA Department, Sardar Patel University, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Anand organized its 8^th ALUMNI MEET on Sunday, 4^th Feb, 2007. A total of 61 past students turned up from all over the country. Alumni members from Tanzania, USA and Canada also planned their visits to remain present for this Meet. The Alumni represented all the sectors and emerging areas of business in the country. Some were entrepreneurs as well.

GHPIBM has an alumni association consisting of ex-students who are its life members. The institute is in constant contact with its alumni members. The Alumni association helps the present students in several ways: alumni interact with students during guest lectures organized, provide guidance and support for summer training and campus placements and in return the association provides a platform where alumni can come and interact not only with their counterparts but also with juniors. It also provides a platform to Alumni to remain in touch with their roots and contribute and support activities of the institute.

This year, providing a traditional touch, the alumni members were welcomed with tilak and a bouquet on their arrival to the institute in the morning. The program started at 10 am with the lighting of the lamp by all the faculty members followed by a prayer. Porf. J. S. Panwar, the Head of Dept delivered the welcome speech.

A Panel discussion on “Relevance of Theoretical Concepts in Decision Making”, by alumni members was organized. The Panel was of the opinion that theoretical concepts help not only in the beginning of the career but also after reaching higher position in an organization. These concepts also serve as useful guide to a manager and to an entrepreneur. The event proved to be inspirational to the present students of the institute.

The panel discussion was followed by several business games and an interactive session in which they shared their experiences with all students. A short session for entertainment was enjoyed by all before Lunch. In the end a prize distribution ceremony was held in which Prof. H. J. Jani presented the awards for Alumni of the year (Devang Joshi), Most consistent member (Nilesh Taunk-1992), Ms. Alumna (Ms Rasneet Kaur- 2003), Mr. Alumnus (Soham Shukla- 1995), Award for Longest distance traveled (which went to Aadarsh Pillai- 1999, an alumnus who had traveled all the way from Tanzania to attend the meet) and GHPIBM couple (Ankur-Kunjal- 2003) of the year. The function ended on a joyous note with vote of thanks by Dr. Darshana Dave who is an alumna from the first batch and a faculty of GHPIBM and organizing secretary for the event.

The event was fully utilized by present students to learn from the experiences fro their seniors. The interaction is one step forward in the process of knowledge sharing.
