Synthesis facilities:
The Department has well equipped Laboratories for synthesis of carbon and ceramic Materials, a polymer lab, and a thin film lab. These include
v Facilities for development of Inorganic and hybrid gels: Stirrers, Drying Ovens, furnaces, Polymerization units etc.
v Facilities for development of model Fiber reinforced composites: filament Winding, prepregging, moulds and Hydraulic press etc.
v Carbonization and activation furnaces.
v Heat treatment Furnaces upto 1000 C and 2500 C.
v Machine shop for sample preparation, polisher, sieve analysis, surface grinder, etc.
v Hot Isotatic Pressing (300 bars at 5000C)
v Thin Film coating Unit
