The post-graduate Department of Education was established in 1964 but bifurcated from M.B.Patel College of Education in 1988.

The department is housed in the building of M.B. Patel College of Education.

Special Contribution of the Department :
1.    The department publishes a prestigion journal titled Journal of Education Psychology    Department has conducted the activities of Shri Mota educational thinking extension chair for two years.

2.    The teachers of the departments are instrumental in spreading the new developments in curriculum,evaluation testing, philosophy of Education at teacher education institutions in Gujarat.
Approx 175 candidates have received their Ph.D. degree by reading under this department.

3.    Besides, running M.Ed. and Ph.D. programmes in Education, the Department is helping DIETS, GCERT, Secondary Exam Board in various educational activities.

4.    Supervised research leading to Ph.D. in Education of about 15 student teachers from Thailand & 1 From the U.S.A.

5.    The group of Students from Thailand donated a sum of Rs. 60,000 to the university for the purchase of a Computer and renovation of the Head’s office.

6.    Five faculty members received financial assistance from U.G.C. for major research project
