STATE LEVEL SOFTWARE PROGRAMMING COMPETITION 2005

RULES & REGULATIONS

 

1.             During contest period, one team member cannot communicate to other team member in any case. For any problem, contact any resource person available in the lab.

2.             Pocket calculator or any outsider instrument will not be allowed during contest.

3.             Keep silence during contest.

4.             Once you enter in the contest area, no one will be allowed to go outside the contest area till the end of the contest time.

 

WORKSTATIONS & RESOURCES

 

1.             A team workstation will consist of an IBM compatible Pentium microcomputer. It is connected with LAN environment. You will be given your login name as well as your password at the time of Competition. Necessary instructions for technical matter will be provided before the competition, if required.

2.             Each team will be given only one computer and Turbo C++ Version 3.0 compiler will be provided as software. In case, if you want to Turbo C compiler, you must inform us well in advance.

 

SUBMISSION OF SOULTIONS

 

1.             Each team will be given four problems. Each team must follow the following type of naming conventions for each problem.

2.             Four submission sheets will be given at the competition time to each team. The general format is attached herewith. Team must submit the solution for each problem using appropriate submission sheet. When you submit your submission sheet to the judges, only corresponding .EXE will be tested for your problem. Do not submit wrong submission sheet.

3.             For problem selection, there are no restrictions, i. e. any team can choose any problem in any order.

4.             Maximum four submissions are permissible for each problem.

5.             The judge will maintain submission sheet and when a problem is solved correctly team will be notified that submission has been successful. When the competition is over, all remaining submission sheets must be handled in to the judging station.

6.             Solutions must execute on the judge’s computer in 60 seconds (unless otherwise specified) of clock time with the competition judging data. Problems will be constructed so that a reasonable solution will meet the requirement using the competition data.

 

SCORE SYSTEM

 

1.         A team’s score will be sum of points awarded for the work on the four problems.

a.       100 points will be awarded for each solution deemed correct. No points are given for solutions that are incomplete or inaccurate.

b.       Teams will be awarded a bonus of 1 (one) point for each five-minute period or part of such period, remaining when the solution is submitted to the judges. (A problem submitted within the first five minutes and judged as correct earns a maximum time bonus of 24 points. A problem submitted in the last five minutes judged as correct earns 1 point).

c.       Each submission that is judged incorrect for any reason will incur a penalty of 10 points (i. e. minus 10 points) regardless of whether the problem is eventually solved or not.

d.       The placing of the teams is determined by the scores obtained should there be any tie in the scores, the placing of the teams is determined by applying each of the following criteria in sequence,

·      the number of problems solved

·      the time when the last correct solution was submitted.

 

2.         The judge’s decision will be the final decision.

 

3.         On-line result will be displayed through LCD at the time of competition subject to committee permission.
